“D” Type (long-term) residence permit

A residence permit allows its holder to reside in Hungary for a period of more than 90 days. 

 

Appointment booking

The Visa application is admissible only if the application is lodged within a period of 90 days before the intended date of entry to Hungary.

Residence Permit Applicants with the purpose of Study, Family Reunification and Digital Nomad (White Card) purpose shall book their appointments directly on the online booking system of Gerry’s Visa Services: https://visa.vfsglobal.com/pak/en/hun/

Residence Permit Applicants with the purpose of Hungarian Card, EU Blue Card, Guest Self-Employment or Guest Investor CAN ONLY be booked at reservation.isl@mfa.gov.hu with the scanned copy of the applicant's passport along with the purpose and details of the planned stay in Hungary.

    • Hungarian Card and EU Blue Card purpose appointmens may only be given upon the direct request of the Hungarian Employer sent to reservation.isl@mfa.gov.hu stating the exact job title with the scanned copy of all potentiall applicants' passports attached.​

PLEASE NOTE: According to Government Decree No. 450/2024 (XII. 23.), only a limited number of nationalities can be employed in Hungary with a residence permit for the purpose of employment. The list of nationalities are published in Appendix 1 of the Government Decree. As of yet Pakistan has not been listed in Appendix 1, due to this RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT PUSPOSE ARE ON HOLD.  

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Fully and legibly completed, and signed application form and relevant Appendix. The application forms and appendices can be downloaded: HERE
  • Valid travel document satisfying the following criteria:
    • it contains at least two blank pages;
    • it has been issued within the previous 10 years.
  • Passport-size colour photo (not older than 6 months);
  • biometric data have been collected (if applicable);
  • visa fee has been collected.

Refusal and appeal procedure

  • Every applicant has the right to appeal. Appeals have to be submitted personally by the applicant at the Consular and Visa Section of the Embassy of Hungary in Islamabad.
  • The application must be submitted within the eight (8) calendar days from the date of receiving the refusal decision.
  • Attention! Appeal submission is by appointment only. You can book your appointment at reservation.isl@mfa.gov.hu.
  • The appeal should include a written appeal request which should be signed by the applicant.
  • Appeal fee in PKR must be paid only with a special deposit slip provided by the Visa Officer. Your appeal is accepted only if you pay the fee. You will get the exact information about the payment when you appear at the Embassy. Please note that the payment should be done within the mentioned time period (8 calendar days), otherwise your appeal won’t be accepted.

  • The fee for the appeal procedure cannot be reimbursed, not even in case of a positive decision.
  • The processing time in ‘C’ (Schengen) cases is fifteen (15) calendar days which can be extended by another twenty one (21) days.
  • Previous refusal has no legal impact on your future visa applications!

The consul or the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing of Hungary may request the presentation of further documents or certificates in addition to the ones already attached to the application.

We inform applicants that we do not represent long-term “D” national visa applications to Lithuania or Estonia. Please contact the the closest Lithuanian/Estonian Embassy directly.

Please note that the Embassy will send out the decision with your Passport and original documents as soon as the process has finished. Due to this fact, we are requesting you not to inquire by phone or email. Once the final decision has been made, the Embassy will contact the Applicant to arrange the reception of documents.
