On 2 May 2023, an exhibition of Hungary’s Islamic architectural heritage was opened in the Pakistani Parliament. Raja Pervez Ashraf, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Ambassador Béla Fazekas, Mehnaz Akber Aziz, Convener of the Pakistani-Hungarian Parliamentary Friendship Group and Mehmet Paçaci, Ambassador of Turkiye in Islamabad spoke at the event.
In his opening speech, Béla Fazekas highlighted that the exhibition lifted the veil from a lesser-known segment of Hungary's history and tourist attractions for the Pakistani public, opening the way for religious tourism in Hungary and Pakistani researchers interested in the country. The Ambassador also reminded the audience that in 1916 the Hungarian Parliament was one of the first in Europe to adopt the law declaring Islam as legally recognized religion in Hungary.
